This page is designed to guide families and caregivers through funding options available in Ontario, with a focus on Halton and Hamilton regions, so you can confidently access the support your loved one needs.

Available Funding Options in Ontario

1. Passport Program

Through Passport Program
This program helps adults (18+) with developmental disabilities live more independently and participate in their community.

Funding can cover:

Respite care
Community participation supports
Life skills development

Families in Halton & Hamilton typically access this through local agencies.

2. Special Services at Home (SSAH)

Provided by Ontario Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services

Supports families caring for a child with a developmental or physical disability at home.

Funding can be used for:

Respite services
Personal support workers (PSWs)
Skill-building programs

3. Assistance for Children with Severe Disabilities (ACSD)

Also through Ontario Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services

Helps with extra costs related to caring for a child with severe disabilities.

May cover:

Travel for appointments
Special equipment
Respite-related expenses

4. Ontario Autism Program (OAP)

Managed by Ontario Autism Program

Provides funding to families of children and youth with autism.

Can be used for:

Therapy services
Skill development
Respite and support services

5. Local Developmental Service Agencies

Halton Region

Reach Out Centre for Kids (ROCK)
Supports children, youth, and families with mental health and developmental needs.

Hamilton Region
